Toilet training is a big step in your child’s growth and independence—and it happens in its own time. Understanding how your little one’s awareness of toileting develops can help you support them gently and confidently along the way.
Signs Your Child Is Ready to Start Toilet Training
Every child is different, but there are some common signs that show they’re beginning to understand the toileting process:
They notice when their nappy is wet and may show discomfort.
They can tell you when they need to wee, sometimes even before it happens.
They recognize the feeling of needing to go and can communicate this.
They’re able to manage pulling their pants on and off with some independence.
When you see these signs, it might be time to start thinking about introducing the toilet.
Why Group Learning Helps
At our centre, we’ve found that children often have the best success when toilet learning happens with a small group of 2-3 children who play and learn together. This way, children feel encouraged by their peers, learn from each other, and build confidence in a supportive setting.
How You Can Help
If you think your child is ready, please reach out to us. We want to work closely with you to plan a smooth and positive transition to toileting. Sharing what you notice at home and coordinating with us means your child experiences consistency and care both at home and in our setting.
Remember, toilet training is a journey, not a race. With patience, encouragement, and teamwork, your child will take this important step when they are ready.
If you have any questions or want to talk about your child’s readiness, we’re here to help every step of the way
